Uploading Video or Audio Files into Kaltura

UConn faculty, staff, and students can upload videos into Kaltura in order to share them others who are affiliated and not affiliated with the University.

Recordings made using the classroom system are uploaded automatically into your Kaltura account.

To upload video or audio files into Kaltura

  • Log into Kaltura by navigating to http://kaltura.uconn.edu and then skip to step 2 on this guide.

  • Alternatively, you can upload videos or audio files to Kaltura through HuskyCT. Log into HuskyCT by navigating to lms.uconn.edu.

 

  1. From HuskyCT, navigate to the Tools tab located on the left-hand menu.

  2. From the list of Tools, click on My Media 1.3

  3. Click on Add New in the top-right of your window. Then select Media Upload.

  4. Click on the Choose a file to upload button.

  5. Navigate to the file located on your computer or drag the file into the upload area of the webpage. Once you select the file you wish to upload, it will start uploading to the Kaltura platform. You will have a progress bar showing the status of the upload. Depending on file size and connection speed, your upload time will vary.

  6. Enter a name for the video or audio file. Give the upload an appropriate name so you can find later. Additionally, users can enter a description and tags, add collaborators, and edit the publishing settings during this step.

  7. Click save. Once the upload is complete, the video or audio file will show in your My Media portal for Kaltura. You will then be able to embed, share, or even create a quiz with the video that can be shared within a HuskyCT course or organization or outside HuskyCT (i.e. department websites). Additionally, users can add automatic captions after the upload is complete.
