Troubleshooting a Gradescope Bubble Sheet Exam

Instructors may experience issues during the creation or grading of a Gradescope bubble sheet exam. This article will provide resolutions to those issues.

Issue: A student doesn’t show up as an option when managing submissions.

When you are managing submissions during the grading process, you must assign each scan to a student enrolled in the course. Sometimes this process must be done if the scanned handwriting cannot be read. When manually pairing submissions, you may find that the student does not exist in the list of available individuals to pair a submission to.

Resolution: Sync the roster from HuskyCT

  1. Within Gradescope, navigate to the course homepage by clicking on Back to <Course>.

  2. On the sidebar, select Roster.

  3. At the bottom of the page, select Sync University of Connecticut Roster.

  4. If desired, you can have newly enrolled students receive a confirmation email when they are added. Check this option if desired. Then select Sync Roster.

     

  5. Once synced, attempt to pair the student’s submission again.
