Grading a Gradescope Bubble Sheet Exam
Instructors can grade a bubble sheet exam through Gradescope. This will automatically determine a student’s grade and submit it to their HuskyCT grade book.

Prerequisites
The Gradescope Bubble Sheet exam and answer key was created in HuskyCT.
The exam was administered using the official Gradescope 100 or 200 question bubble sheet.
Instructions
Step 1: Scanning the sheets
There are multiple ways to scan physical sheets to a computer. This article will outline the method available to most departments through a Xerox multifunction printer. If you instead want to use the ITS-provided scanner in Homer Babbidge Library, see this article: Using the ITS High-Speed Scanner
Select Email.
Enter your email address as the recipient of the scan.
Change additional settings as necessary (email subject, file name, etc.).
Select Send to scan and send to your email.
Download the attachment from the email sent by the printer.
Step 2: Grading the submissions
Once the scanned sheets are on your computer, you can upload them to Gradescope to be graded.
Navigate to the Gradescope exam entry in your HuskyCT course.
Select Manage Scans. Click Select PDF Files and select the PDF containing the scanned exam sheets. Then select Manage Submissions.
Ensure that the submissions are correctly paired to a student. If a pairing is wrong or missing, use the Student drop-down to pair an exam to the correct student. If the correct student is missing from the menu, you may need to first sync your class roster. Once all submissions are paired, select Grade Submissions.
Depending on the size of the class and length of the exam, the system may take some time to pair and grade submissions to students. Historically a 500-person exam takes about 5 minutes to grade submissions, but this may vary depending on system usage.
Wait for the system to report that all questions are 100% graded. The percentage shown indicates the percentage of responses that have been graded, not the percent correct. Once graded, select Review Grades.
Review the grades. Once reviewed, select Post All Grades to University of Connecticut to send the grades to the student grade book in HuskyCT. This may take a few minutes for larger rosters.
If you configure the HuskyCT item for the Gradescope exam to be hidden from student view, you must change it to visible in order for students to see their grades. You can learn more about content visibility here: https://uconn.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TL/pages/26042992794
