Mac Checklist
Here is a checklist of configuration items to make sure are completed before handing off a Mac to a user.
Device Configuration
Presage the machine in JAMF by working with ITS
Have user login while connected to Ethernet (USB-C > ETH adapter)
Have user enroll Mac (has to be the user) https://uconn.atlassian.net/l/cp/chJhGLZ1
Have ITS move the Mac into the Stamford Static Group (JAMF support) - this is required to make the first user who logs in a volume owner, otherwise that will drastically effect their ability to use the Mac as intended later on
Login to NoMAD for the first time and immediately logout: https://uconn.atlassian.net/l/cp/LaY0PStY
Install apps for user, start in the Self Service Portal in the launch pad as automated installs will save time.
Â
App configuration checklist to be done under user’s profile
Make sure user is an admin (Self Service Portal has a script that can run for the first user before engaging ITS)
Make sure FileVault is encrypting via policy, escalate if not
UConn Secure
AnyConnect VPN
One Drive
Install relevant copiers. My instructions are still current: https://uconn.atlassian.net/l/cp/gMo90A1M
Outlook
WebEx
Teams
Make sure user is signed into MS Office
Run auto updater in MS Office to get current version
Consult user on any other apps they wish to use and assist when appropriate
Managed macs are very different than Managed Windows machines. The user of the device is the only person who should be logging in and the only admin.

ITS keeps an extensive amount of documentation on Mac support: https://uconn.atlassian.net/l/cp/Jc4f21AL
ITS has a JAMF Support Teams channel which is a good resource to contact them quickly regarding a Mac issue.
