Nexus
This article provides faculty, students, and staff with background information about Nexus, its services, and its features.Â
Nexus is a web application that supplements and works in tandem with the Student Administration System. It was specifically designed to accommodate the way in which the University of Connecticut’s student support services are structured.Â
The University offers multiple options for student support, be it academic, mental health-related, financial, etc., but they are decentralized—i.e., they are offered by many different departments. Student needs and the services they require, however, often span multiple departments that may not always be in direct contact with one another. Nexus was designed to meet these needs by providing a convenient environment for students, faculty, and staff across all departments to communicate with one another and share information, as well as to facilitate housekeeping items – especially appointment scheduling, note sharing, and event registration – all in one app.
As part of the University-wide effort to encourage and increase student success, Nexus data analytics aid in early intervention efforts.
All users with both an active NetID and a Student Administration System ID can log into Nexus’ student portal. The Admin portal is only open to users affiliated with a UConn department. Faculty, staff, and departments interested in using this application can contact the Nexus technical support team at nexus@uconn.edu for details about having a profile created for themselves or for their department.Â
Nexus should not be confused with applications available elsewhere that have similar names. The UConn Nexus web app is only meant to be used by UConn students, faculty, and staff and is not available on the App Store, the Play Store, or any other platform for mobile app downloads.
Both undergraduate and graduate students and programs alike use Nexus for day-to-day tasks. Some of the system's data analytics apply exclusively to the undergraduate population, while others are inclusive of the graduate student population. However, the majority of Nexus tools are applicable to all departments, students, staff, and faculty.
