Adding Text and Images to the HuskyCT Content Editor

UConn faculty, staff, and students can import text and images into the content editor on HuskyCT.

Copying and Pasting Text into the Content Editor

Copying and pasting your text from another editing program such as Microsoft Word, Notepad, or Google Docs can save you time, but you may find that you need to adjust your formatting after you copy and paste.

  1. Use keyboard shortcuts to copy and paste text; if you use your mouse to copy and paste, you may encounter issues.

    1. For Windows, use Ctrl + A to select all text, Ctrl + C to copy, and Ctrl + V to paste.

    2. For Mac, use Command + A to select all text, Command + C to copy, and Command + V to paste.

  2. After you have pasted the text into the editor, click Remove Formatting on the box that appears.

  3. To adjust your font size, click on the drop-down next to Paragraph. You can choose different size headers to add to your text so your text adjusts better to different screen sizes and is more accessible to users with screen readers.

Tip: While the content editor appears to have no extra spaces between lines when you hit Enter or Return on your keyboard, it adds an extra space between lines when the content is published. To add another line of text without the extra spacing, use Shift + Enter on Windows or Shift + Return on Mac.

  4. Click Submit to save your changes.

Adding Images to the Content Editor

While the content editor allows text to be copied and pasted, it does not allow most images to be copied and pasted from other places. Instead, you need to insert the image via Add Content.

  1. Open the content editor and click the + icon to add content. If you do not see the + option, click the three dots in the upper right corner to expand your options.

  2. Select your content source. If you are inserting an image saved on your computer, select Insert Local Files.

  3. Locate the file on your computer and attach it using the file box that appears (may vary for different devices). The image will then appear in your content editor.

  4. After the image has been added to your content editor, you can adjust the size of the image by clicking on the image and dragging the blue squares at the corner of the image.

  5. To add an image description, right-click on the image and click Image. Then type a description of the image under Alternate Description.

  6. Click Submit to save your changes.
