Viewing and Downloading Collaborate Ultra Recordings

This article is for instructors who wish to save their Collaborate Ultra sessions. This can be used to save review sessions and upload them to HuskyCT or just to have a record of what was covered in a Collaborate Ultra session.

Instructors and students can make recordings in Class Collaborate Ultra and then view, share or download them later.  Recordings capture the audio, video, and any content that is shared during a session. Recordings also capture any real time captions or chat available during the session.

Instructors are moderators in all sessions and can make recordings. When a new session is created, the default role for students and others is Participant. You will need to change the default role to Moderator in the Session Settings if students will be making recordings.

Recording

  1. Once you join the session, open the Session menu in the upper left and select Start Recording. The recording camera appears with a red dot while recording is in progress.

  2. To finish recording, open the Session menu and select Stop Recording. It will automatically be saved.

Viewing Recordings

Recorded sessions are saved as MP4s on the same page you joined your session from.

  1. Open Class Collaborate Ultra and click on the Session Menu.

  2. Click Recordings.

  3. Click on the recording you wish to view and click Watch now.

Recordings include activity in the live session including:

  • Audio

  • Any content shared or active speaker video

    • If both are shared during the session, only the content shared is recorded.

  • Captions entered during the live session

    • If your session had more than one caption track, only the first available one is captured.

  • Chat messages in the Everyone channel

    • Private messages and chat messages in breakout groups are not recorded.

Downloading Recordings

  1. Open the Recordings and click on the Recording Options menu to the right of the session you want to view. Then click Download.
