Taking a Screenshot on Windows

Your Entire Screen

  1. Press Print Screen (often located on the Insert key) on your keyboard. The entire screen will copy to your Clipboard.

  2. Press Control + v to paste your Clipboard.

A Selected Portion of Your Screen

Some computers (mostly Windows 10/11) have a snipping tool hotkey shortcut. To screenshot a selected portion of the screen, press Windows + Shift + s on your keyboard. 

  1. Search for “Snipping Tool” from the Windows Search box. 

  2. Open the Snipping Tool. 

  3. Click New.

  4. Click and drag the cursor over the desired portion of your screen. 

  5. Release the cursor.

  6. Select Copy to save the image to your Clipboard. 

A Single Window

  1. Make the desired window active by clicking in it once.

  2. Press Alt + Print Screen. The screenshot will be saved to your Clipboard.
