Selecting the Correct MODS Form

About MODS Forms

Most CTDA users, including users managed by Bibliomation, should use the CTDA Collection MODS Form or the CTDA Item MODS form. Users from University of Connecticut and the Connecticut State Library should select the appropriate MODS form for their object.

  • The CTDA now offers several customized MODS forms in addition to the standard form.

  • The MODS forms are all similar, but some have extra fields which are particular to a certain institution or collection.

  • For example, for the Basic Image Content Model, the "WWI Object Form" has a "Story" section, prompting a description of an object related to the First World War.

  • You can use any form for an object, but keep in mind that some are specially designed for a specific type of object.
