Social Media Income

If a UConn Faculty earns income from social media (ex. Tik Tok content creator that is paid through the Content Creator fund), this does not count as consulting and does not need to be reported through that mechanism, so long as the content is general, public, and payments are being distributed based on the size of the audience. This type of social media income would be treated similar to royalty payments to faculty.

If, however, the faculty is being paid for or making content that is promoting products, brands, etc., then that would be treated as promotional activity, and please reach out to the Business Center. The context of the income is relevant to the process and procedures that will be followed.
