Optimize Your Workstation for Teaching

Instructors can schedule a Tech Check to ensure their workstations are running well.

Scheduling a Tech Check is a quick way for faculty to make sure their home workstation is running to the best of its ability with remote teaching (specifically in WebEx, Collaborate, or Teams).

What the Tech Check Entails

During the Tech Check, faculty will have a personal WebEx meeting with an Academic IT staff member, who will work with the faculty member to see how well the computer is running.

The technician will look at GPU usage, onboard memory, and internet speeds for the faculty and walk them through how to view these things for themselves in the future. If the computer is having trouble in any of those areas, the technician will make recommendations to have the computer running as smoothly as possible for the upcoming semester. Recommendations may include removing unnecessary background software that could be slowing down the computer, upgrading the hardware of the computer, or upgrading the home internet of the residence.
