iPad for Remote Teaching Setup
Faculty and staff can set up iPads, lights, and tripods to record or host live lectures.
Setting up the iPad and Light
Unbox all the items and remove any wrapping.
Open the tripod by gently pulling the legs outward until they are fully expanded.
Pull the tab on the top base (Step 1 - BLUE arrow) of the tripod to release the tripod device adapter (Step 2 - RED arrow). Set the device adapter aside to install on the iPad in a later step.
Remove the outer rubber protective sleeve from the iPad.
Locate the SHAPE iPad mount and use the screw dial on the back to extend the iPad mount to its fully open position.
Position the mount on the backside of the iPad, and then slide the mount until it is secure on the iPad. Use the screw dial to tighten it in place.
Install the tripod device adapter to the bottom of the iPad mount.
Place the iPad back into the tripod and lock the device adapter tab that was unlocked in step 3.
Open the light and install the battery.
To install the battery, slide the battery onto the light until it clicks into place. To remove the battery, press the orange button and slide the battery out.
Locate the light adapter and make sure the base shoe screw is drawn up.
Connect the light adapter to the top of the iPad mount and tighten the shoe screw.
Connect the light to the top of the light adapter and tighten the light's shoe screw down.
You can adjust the height of the tripod by extending the legs up or down. There is a bubble level on the top base of the tripod; be sure to keep the tripod level at all times while in use. Once the tripod is set to the desired height, make sure all knobs are tight before recording to ensure safe operation.
Connecting the Speaker
The wireless Bluetooth speaker can be used as a microphone and speaker for WebEx or recording on the iPad. The model of the speaker is JBL Clip 3 Bluetooth Speaker. Note the image below where the power button and Bluetooth pairing button are located.
Power on the speaker by pressing the power button.
Make sure to charge the speaker before its first use.
Press the Bluetooth button on the speaker.
Open the Settings application on the iPad, then select Bluetooth.
From the Bluetooth menu, select JBL Clip 3 Speaker under the available devices.
