Two-Factor Authentication at UConn is designed to be used anywhere in the world at any time. However, there are some considerations that travelers should keep in mind when abroad. The simplest way to use 2FA at UConn while traveling is to download and set up the Duo Mobile app for authentication. Duo Mobile works both with or without internet access on your device and is ITS’s recommended second-factor authentication method for all situations.

If you are traveling abroad and do not have the Duo Mobile app configured, you may incur international charges for any data usage, SMS Text Messages, or Phone Calls from Duo that are delivered over international cellular networks.

Travels may also consider using a Hardware Token. These tokens never require any kind of service (cellular or internet).

Both the Duo Mobile app and Hardware Tokens do not require cellular or internet service once they are configured.
