Faculty and staff can enroll an iOS device in Jamf Pro.

This checklist will only work with iOS Devices that have either been purchased through the following channels:

  • Apple Punch-out in HuskyBuy

  • UConn Cellular Services

This article is intended for IT professionals, specifically to configure university owned iOS devices used by faculty, staff or students. The checklist below assumes that your iOS device has already been enrolled in Jamf. To enroll a device in JAMF, create an ITS service ticket to request enrollment.

Enrollment Process

Depending on the iOS version currently installed on your device, the order of steps below may differ slightly. You should review all the steps before starting the enrollment process.

  1. If your iOS device has not been previously set up, power on the device. If your iOS device has already been set up, format the iOS device before continuing.

  2. Select your preferred language from the list of languages.

  3. Select United States from the list of countries.

  4. If prompted to set up with another device via Quick Start, select Set Up Manually.

  5. If you are on the UConn network and are not the end-user, connect to UCONN-GUEST. If you are on the UConn network and are the end user, connect to UCONN-SECURE. If you are not on the UConn network, connect to your local wireless network from the list of available networks.

  6. The Remote Management screen will appear. Press Next.

  7. Sign in with your NetID and Password.

  8. Enable Location Services.
Note: Enabling Location Services is important because UConn uses it to manage your iPad or iPhone.

At this point, you can continue working with ITS staff. A technician will place your iOS device in the appropriate group in the ITS Apple device management system.
