This guide is intended for faculty, staff, and students to explain the different Realms (also known as Profiles) that are offered when connecting to the Cisco AnyConnect VPN.

VPN Realms (Profiles)

When you first connect to the Cisco AnyConnect VPN, you'll be presented with a list of different Realms to connect to - the follow will explain each of these realms

  • General-VPN: 

    This is the standard VPN to which most everyone will be connecting. This VPN will allow you access to UConn Resources, as well as being Split-Tunneled (for an explanation of Split Tunneling, please see the following guide: About Split Tunneling on Cisco AnyConnect VPN)
  • IAM-VPN: 

    This VPN connection is reserved for use by the Identity and Access Management Team.
  • ISO-VPN: 

    This VPN connection is used by the Information Security Office.
  • NetEng-VPN: 

    This VPN connection is for the Networking Services Team.
  • Privileged-VPN: 

    The Privileged VPN is used to grant ITS staff access to specific network resources for management purposes only.
