You can send a file request to individuals, inside and outside the university, that lets them securely upload files into a folder in your OneDrive. The request recipient will receive a link from you. When they follow it, they can upload the file into the folder you have designated, and they do not need to sign into an Office 365 account.
OneDrive is an encrypted and secured service. Sensitive information can be requested and sent through OneDrive; however, secure file management practices should be followed. Only request necessary information and do not keep information longer than necessary.
Requesting Files With the OneDrive Web Client
Navigate to https://uconn-my.sharepoint.com/ and sign in with your UConn email address and NetID password.
Select the folder where you want to receive the requested file. Hover over the folder and click the circle beside the folder name. Do not open the folder.
In the top bar, click on Request files.
Enter a description for the files that you want. This can be anything that will let the recipient know what files you would like them to upload.
To send the file request, enter the user's email address in the Enter a name or email address field. This can be any internal UConn email or any external email.
Alternatively, you can share the link at the top with any user. Upon following the link, they will be able to upload any file that will be added to your OneDrive.
Once all desired users have been added, click Done.
Your file request has now been sent. The recipient will now be able to upload the requested files.
