Webex - Reallow Webex Permissions on macOS

When updating MacOS, you may need to re-allow access to your webcam, microphone, and screen-sharing. If your Share button is grayed out during your Meeting, follow these instructions.

  1. Completely close Webex.

    quit webex
  2. Click on the Apple icon in the top menu on your screen.

  3. Click System Preferences and then choose Security & Privacy.

    click security and privacy
  4. Click on the padlock to unlock these settings.

  5. Choose Microphone and check the box next to Webex.

  6. Choose Camera and check the box next to Webex.

    1. Choose Screen Recording and check the box next to Webex.

  7. Click on the padlock again to lock these settings.

  8. Close these windows and re-open Webex.

When you "share your screen" in Webex, Webex is technically recording your screen in order to broadcast it into the call.

If you are set to "optimize for text and images," Webex captures 3 screenshots per second to broadcast. If you are set to "optimize for motion and video," Webex captures 30 screenshots per second and includes audio.
