Recording Your Screen with Stream

This article is for students, faculty, and staff who wish create a video on Stream by recording their screen. Recording your screen allows you to share it with a team or group of people. Any person can record their screen and upload it to Stream. Screen recordings are often uploaded to a channel, and this assumes that the channel is already created.   1. Log in to Office 365

  2. Click on the grid icon in the top left-hand corner.

  3. Click on All apps

  4. Select Stream from the menu that appears.

  5. Click on Screen recording.

  6. Now you have the choice of recording your screen, just your camera and voice, or just your voice.
    Make your choice using the buttons below the preview:

  7. If Stream does not already have permission to use your device's camera and microphone, click Allow in the popup window to grant permission.

  8. The large white ring at the bottom is the record button. Click on this button after you have reviewed the information below.

  9. If you wish to include your camera, you can resize the image size by clicking and dragging on the dots. Otherwise, you can close the camera with the X.

  10. You may enter your script in the Teleprompter tool in order to read prepared notes. This button is to the right of the Record ring.

  11. Press the Start recording button.

  12. In the pop-up, choose which screen, application window, or tab to share, as well as if computer audio should be shared.

  13. Click Share.

  14. A timer will count down from 3, and then the screen will start recording.

    1. The screen recording can be paused at any time by pressing the Pause button. After pausing, recording can then be resumed again by pressing the Start recording button.

  15. When finished, press the stop button to stop recording.

  16. Next click on Review in the bottom right corner.

  17. Here you can trim your recording.

  18. Click Confirm Trim to continue if you have trimmed the video. 

  19. Click Finish to prepare and upload your video.

  20. You may change

    1. The Thumbnail: this is the image that appears before you press Play.

    2. The “About video” toggle shows/hides the video description below the video player.
      You may add a description to the video now.

    3. You may generate a Transcription or upload an existing one.

  21. The video is now in your cloud location and can be shared like any other OneDrive/SharePoint file. Click on Share if you would like to share it.
