Microsoft Stream

Stream, also called “Stream in SharePoint”, is a video sharing service included in the Office365 suite that enables secure video sharing. Uploaded videos are automatically encrypted, yet Stream’s integration in the Office365 suite simplifies sharing content with individuals and groups. Transcripts can be generated for all content and are easily edited by the uploader and others who are given explicit access.

Stream features technologies that help users find information within videos. Below are bullet points from the Stream support documentation:

  • Speech-to-text transcribed audio—Generated transcripts become searchable text. Simply type in keywords to jump to any point in a video they are spoken.

  • Face detection—With face detection, viewers can see where each person in the video is shown throughout the video. A clickable timeline indicates every place they appear.

  • Linked timecodes—Timecodes are displayed within the comments section and are linked to the text transcripts or table of contents, so you can jump to a specific point in the video.
