Outlook Features

This article is intended for faculty, staff, and student workers that use the email and calendaring application Microsoft Outlook. This article contains instructions on setting up and using its basic features. Student workers log in with their netidwork@uconn.edu and password. Faculty and staff log in with their firstname.lastname@uconn.edu and NetID password.

Changing Time Zone in Outlook 2010, 2013 and 2016

  1. Click the File tab.

  2. Click Options.

  3. Click on the Calendar tab on the left, and under Time Zones, enter a name for your current time zone in the “Label” box.

  4. In the Time Zone drop-down, select your desired time zone.

Changing Language in Outlook 2010, 2013 and 2016

  1. Click the File tab.

  2. Click the Options tab.

  3. Click the Language tab on the left.  Under “Choose Display and Help Languages,” select a language in the “display language” box.

  4. Click Set as Default.

  5. Click OK, and click OK again when prompted to restart Outlook.

Changing the Number of Lines Displayed in the Reading Preview Pane (Outlook 2013, 2016)

  1. Click the View tab.

  2. Click Message Preview.

  3. Select the number of lines you wish displayed (1, 2, or 3).

    1. You can also select Off if you don't want to use the reading preview pane.
