Wired connections are present when machines are directly connected to a building's data jack via Ethernet cable. Nearly all university-supported desktops and docked laptops use this system.

Requesting a Jack

Departments or individuals who need a jack installed or an existing jack activated so that they can have voice, data, or cable television services should complete the New Data Jack Request Form or contact the ITS Technology Support Center for assistance.

Reporting an Issue

Faculty, staff, and students who are experiencing connectivity issues in any UConn buildings, including residence halls, should contact the ITS Technology Support Center for assistance. 

Requesting a Static IP Address

If you need a static IP address for a wired device, such as a gaming console, contact the ITS Technology Support Center IP address reservations are not available for wireless networks.

Wired connections are most frequently given 137.99 or 10.16 IP ranges, which gives the computer access to UConn systems that may otherwise require a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
