UCONN-GUEST is a non-encrypted, non-secure wireless service that visitors to UConn who do not have NetID credentials may use to access the internet. It does not require NetID credentials to log in. Instead, users must accept terms and conditions, which automatically load in the device’s Web browser upon connecting to UCONN-GUEST or browsing to a website. This connection resets every few hours.
As of August 1, 2022, ITS has started blocking FTP, BitTorrent, and SMTP protocols on UCONN-GUEST.
You may need to connect your wireless device to UCONN-GUEST. Supported devices include:
Most gaming consoles, such as Xbox and PlayStation
Apple TV
Smart TVs
Roku, Fire TV Stick, Chromecast
Such devices that do not have a web browser capable of accepting the Acceptable Use Policy must be registered to allow them to bypass the terms and conditions page.
Peer-to-peer communication between WiFi devices is not supported. Therefore, wireless printers, smart assistants such as Amazon Alexa or Google Home, lights, sockets, etc. may not function and are not formally supported.
