Have a Teams Conversation with UCHC Users

This article is for faculty, staff, and students who wish to have a Teams conversation with a UConn Health Center (UCHC) user.

Having a Team's conversation with a UCHC user is different than with a UConn user because UCHC has their own Microsoft 365 tenant. This causes their accounts to show up as External. To begin a Teams conversation with a UCHC user: 

  1. In Teams, search the UCHC email (*@uchc.edu) of the UCHC user to chat with.

  2. In the search results, select the External that appears.

You may see a non-External account because the user also has an account in the main UConn tenant. However, this account is unlicensed, and any messages sent to this account will not be received. In order for the UCHC user to receive the message, the external account must be selected.

  1. A chat will open for the user's UCHC account.
