General Education Courses

To create a sortable table for Honors general education courses.

Step-by-step guide

1.  Generate the list of courses in WebFocus

Run the "Hon Graded GenEd for web" report (found under Honors > Curriculum).

2. Modify the output file in Excel

  1. Cut and paste the GEOC_VALUE headings from Row 2 into Row 3:


  2. Delete rows 1 & 2.
  3. Insert a new row 2 and enter the word "string" in columns A-N.
  4. Complete two global find and replaces:
    1. Find COMPQ and replace with Q
    2. Find COMPW and replace with W
  5. Save as a .csv file.

3. In Aurora, create the Visualizer table

  1. Go to the Dashboard for the Honors Program website.
  2. Using the menubar on the left, click Visualizer > Add New Chart
  3. Select Table and click Next.
  4. Import data from the .csv file you just created.
  5. Collapse the "Import data from file" so that you can click the Advanced link at the bottom of the dialog.
  6. Complete the following settings:
    • General Settings: Title: Semester Honors gen eds (Ex: Fall 2020 Honors gen eds)
    • Table Settings:
      • Enable pagination (tick)
      • Number of rows per page: 15
      • Pagination type: 'Previous' and 'Next' buttons, plus page numbers
      • Freeze Header/Footer (tick)
    • Row/Cell Settings:
      • Header Row: Background color: #7382b5
      • Header Row: Color: #ffffff (white)
      • Odd Table Row: Background color: #f7f7f7f
      • Even Table Row: Background color: #efefef
  7. Click Create Chart

4. Add the Visualizer table to a web page (in Aurora)

  1. While in the Visualizer Library, find and copy the shortcode for your new chart:
     
  2. Paste this shortcode into the page or post.


The same table may be used in multiple pages or posts.

If you need to update the data in the table, complete sections 1 & 2 above (or make the change directly in Excel). You can then edit the chart from the Visualizer Library and re-import the data.Â
