Using Windows Remote Desktop to Connect to a BARC Virtual Machine
The following instructions assume the PC acting a client is connected to the UConn network. If the PC running the remote desktop client is
Tap or Click on the Windows Start Button.
Click or tap on the Search icon.
Type “remote desktop” in the search field.
Click or tap on the menu item Remote Desktop Connection.
In the Computer: field enter the Virtual Machine, (VM) hostname followed by the fully qualified domain name. The hostname will be provided by BARC administrators.
e.g. A11111W-AA1111.business.uconn.edu
Click on the General Tab.
Click Save As…
Save the file with a session name that will help you identify it. Save it to a location that is easy to get to.
Test the session.
Double click on the RDP session you just created and saved.
Sign in by entering the domain first, then enter your School of Business username
For example if my username is jhusky I would enter business.uconn.edu\jhusky as the username.
In the password entry field I would enter my School of Business password.
For security reasons do not select the option to remember the password.
Click OK.
