BARC - Remote Desktop from Chrome Browser & Chromebooks
Virtual machines (VM) available on BARC are usually only accessible while using a UConn Network, you may connect to an Ethernet data jack or UCONN-SECURE. The virtual machine will be inaccessible from a non-uconn network.
Students and other temporary BARC should use a free cloud storage service such as Dropbox, OneDrive (installed) or Google Drive etc to save your work.
Downloading Chrome RDP
To access the VM on BARC please sign into your Chromebook and open the link in the Chome browser, https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chrome-rdp/cbkkbcmdlboombapidmoeolnmdacpkch?utm_source=chrome-app-launcher
Click ADD TO CHROME.
Click Add app.
Go to the Chrome App Launcher click on the Chrome RDP icon.
Authorize the app by clicking Continue if prompted.
In the “Enter the computer name or address to connect to:” field enter the hostname or IP addres of the VM. This connection information is provided by BARC administrators.
Click Connect.
Click Continue if prompted.
In the Domain: field enter GROVE.AD.UCONN.EDU.
Enter your NetID in the Username: field.
Enter your NetID password in the Password: field.
Click OK.
