Students, faculty, and staff can add captions to videos in Kaltura.
If you used a transcript to create the video, you can use Kaltura's Alignment Service to create captions.
Captioning Individual Videos
Login to Kaltura Mediaspace or HuskyCT.
Click Guest.
Click My Media to log in.
Login to HuskyCT
Click Tools
Click My Media
Click on the video title to which you wish to add captioning.
Below the video on the right-hand side, click Actions.
Select Caption and Enrich.
Note: The “Machine captioning” option is 70% to 80% accurate and is the only option free of charge. Be sure to edit the captions after they are created to be ADA compliant, which is close to 99% accurate.Click Submit to confirm your selection. The captions should be added within 30 minutes. You will receive an email when they are complete.

Captioning Multiple Videos
Login to Kaltura Mediaspace or HuskyCT.

Click on the box to the left of the video(s) to which you wish to add captioning.
At the upper right, click Actions.
Select Caption and Enrich.

If professional caption services are needed, UConn has a contract in place with 3Play Media. Follow these instructions to create an account and fill out a 3Play Media request. Then contact us to link your account to Kaltura.
