Two-Factor Authentication Duo two-factor authentication (2FA) at UConn is designed to be used anywhere in the world at any time. However, there are some considerations that travelers should keep in mind when abroad. The simplest way to use 2FA at UConn while traveling for UConn services when you are outside of the United States is to download and set up the Duo Mobile app for authentication. Duo Mobile works both with or without internet access on your device and is ITS’s recommended second-factor authentication method for all situations. New to Duo?
If you are you setting up Duo for the first time, follow the instructions for setting up a mobile phone for 2FA and installing the Duo Mobile app.
Switching from Text to the Duo Mobile App
If you already have Duo set up on your mobile device but did not install the app, you can return to the Device Management Portal and activate the app.
Go to netid.uconn.edu/tools/duo/ and log in with your NetID and NetID password.
Click Manage Devices. You’ll need to authenticate with Duo to gain access.
By the phone number associated with your enrolled device, click Device Options.
Click Activate Duo Mobile.
Select the type of phone you have (cannot select Other).
Follow the prompts to download the Duo Mobile app.
Activate Duo Mobile for your phone. Either scan the on-screen QR code (point the camera on your phone at your screen) or have an activation link emailed to you. Click Continue once you complete either activation option.
The process is complete, and you have successfully activated Duo.
