All generally scheduled classrooms are equipped with standard classroom technology that is maintained and refreshed by ITS. These classrooms are controlled by a touch panel on the teaching station, which gives the user full control over all audiovisual features in the classroom.

For a full, plain English, explanation of our classrooms, please visit UConn Classroom Technology Explained

Classroom Touch Panel Functions

The following list corresponds to the numbers superimposed onto the classroom touch panel screenshot below:

  • (1) Projector Mute: This button will mute the projector/displays and is much faster than turning the projector off and on again. The projector needs to enter a cooling and warming period if you turn it completely off using the ON / OFF buttons.

  • (2) Display Controls: This will bring you to the page that has the controls for the projector screen and projector, monitors in the room, and lighting controls (depending on the room).

  • (3) Laptop USB-C: The USB-C cables carry the video signal of Laptops and some handheld devices. You do not need ThunderBolt for this option and the cable ONLY carries a video signal (no USB connection).

  • (4) Wireless Presentation/WePresent: This source allows you to wirelessly share your laptop, phone, or tablet screen with the classroom.

For more information about Wireless Presentation, review the article, Classroom Wireless Presentation Technology.

  • (5) Video Conferencing: Some UConn rooms have equipment that allows for classroom-to-classroom video calling.

  • (6) Kaltura Live Lecture Capture: The classroom system can record your lecture directly to your Kaltura account. You may also have the option to Live-Stream your lecture in real-time (45-second delay, one-way communication).
