In Webex, users can alter how Participants appear on their screen. The default view is Grid View, colloquially referred to as the Brady Bunch view. The other views are Active Speaker, and Thumbnail View. The Active Speaker view shows only the Participant currently speaking and you can see yourself in the bottom corner. The Thumbnail View gives priority to the Participant currently speaking and shows the last six Participants who spoke as thumbnails above or below the active speaker.

You cannot change your view layout when using "Join with your Browser". Therefore, this guide does not apply to Chromebooks, any other ChromeOS devices, or computers running Linux.

This layout is independent of the recording layout. To learn how to set your recording layout, visit this page: Webex Recording Options

  1. Start the Meeting, or click on the Join link.
  2. Once the Meeting has begun, you will have to wait for a Participant to join before you will see the Layout.
  3. Move the cursor to the top-right of the video portion of the screen. If you have the Participants Panel open, the Layout button will be directly to the left of Participants.
  4. Grid view shows all your participants in a grid. It's also known as "Hollywood squares"  or "the Brady Bunch view".
  5. Stage view places the active speaker in a large window above the last 5 participants who have spoken.
  6. Focus shows only the active speaker.
