Checking OneDrive Connection and Syncing
Before migration, it is important to check that all the files you want to transfer are successfully synced with your OneDrive account. Without ensuring that the files you want are synced, you may not be able to access files on your new device. To check that your OneDrive is connected to your account and all desired files are synced complete the following
Navigate to the OneDrive icon located on the lower right of the screen and hover over it to view OneDrive Status. It should say “Up to date.”
After opening OneDrive you should also see a green circle with a check mark followed by “Your files are synced.” To ensure that the correct account is being synced, click on the icon then select the settings cog symbol at the top right then select settings.
After opening settings click on “Account” and from here you should be able to view which accounts are synced, as well as manage which folders you want to sync.
Before migrating your device, you should make sure everything you want to move to your new PC is in a synced folder.
To double check, you can sign in to OneDrive online, or select View online after clicking on the OneDrive icon in the taskbar. All the folders and files you see here are what you’ll be able to transfer.
