General FAQs

Overview

HuskyCT, which stands for “Husky Course Tools,” is UConn's name for our learning management system. The application we use is Blackboard Learn 9.1. Instructors may use a HuskyCT site to post course materials, online assignments, discussion forums, tests, and grades.

How do I access HuskyCT? 

  1. Type huskyct.uconn.edu into your web browser.

  2. You will need an active NetID and password to log in.

    1. If you have not yet activated your NetID, please visit the NetID website

    2. Otherwise, log into HuskyCT using your NetID and password.

How do I access my courses?

  1. Click on the Courses button on the left-hand menu of the home page.

  2. If your course has not yet started, change the drop-down at the top of the page from "Current Courses" to "Upcoming Courses"  to see your upcoming courses. 

How do I reset my password for HuskyCT?

Your password for HuskyCT is the same as your NetID. To reset the password, please visit the NetID website

Which web browsers are compatible with HuskyCT?

Students can quickly verify if their browser is supported by visiting Blackboard's Browser Checker.

Can I access HuskyCT from my mobile device?

Yes. Students may access HuskyCT using the Blackboard app. Alternatively, students can download the Blackboard app for iOS 9.0+, Android 4.2+, and Windows 10+.

When will my courses be available in HuskyCT?

While most HuskyCT courses are open to students on the first day of classes each semester, some may start earlier/later. If a course is listed as “unavailable” after the start date of the semester, please inquire with your instructor directly.

A course I'm taking is not listed in HuskyCT.

Courses are offered in HuskyCT at the discretion of the instructor. Therefore, not all courses in the UConn catalog will be available in HuskyCT. If you are officially registered in a course that is not listed in HuskyCT after the start date of the semester, please inquire with your instructor.

If you recently enrolled in a course, please allow up to 24 hours for HuskyCT to receive the update, before contacting your instructor. 

Course enrollments are updated periodically throughout the day. 

Update Schedule

  • Mon-Fri: 8:30 am, 12:45 pm, and 4:45 pm

  • Sat-Sun: 12:45 pm and 4:45 pm 

If 24 hours have passed, you do not see your course(s) listed, and your instructor has confirmed the course is offered in HuskyCT, contact the ITS Technology Support Center.

I dropped a course, but it's still listed in HuskyCT. 

If you recently dropped a course, please allow up to 24 hours for HuskyCT to receive the update. Course enrollments are updated periodically throughout the day.

If 24 hours have passed and the course is still displaying for you in HuskyCT, please contact the Technology Support Center.

I can’t find an assignment, exam, or other content item in my HuskyCT course. 

Availability and placement of tests, assignments, and other content are maintained by your instructor. Sometimes, instructors will place conditions on releasing content (start/end dates, prerequisites, etc.). Please consult your instructor for guidance on navigating the course and/or accessing specific materials.

My exam attempt in HuskyCT was interrupted and the system will not allow me to finish. 

HuskyCT quizzes/exams can only be reset by your instructor. If you have exceeded the allotted number of attempts,

Additional attempts are offered solely at the discretion of your instructor.

I uploaded the wrong assignment and the system will not allow me to re-submit. 

The number of attempts permitted for an assignment is set by your instructor. If you have uploaded the wrong file for an assignment, you contact your instructor directly. The ITS Technology Support Center is not permitted and does not have access to reset assignment attempts. Only your instructor, at his/her discretion, may reset your assignment attempt.

I need to finish an Incomplete. How do I access a course from a previous semester? 

Courses from prior semesters are generally not open to students. You should first contact your instructor and obtain permission to access materials from the prior semester.

Your instructor will update the course availability date and your enrollment status. If your instructor approves the request and you're still having difficulty accessing the course, contact the Technology Support Center.

Can I add/drop classes from within HuskyCT?

No. Course registration, including add/drop, is facilitated by the Registrar’s Office at (860) 486-3331 or registrar.uconn.edu/contact-us-students/

What is LockDown Browser?

LockDown Browser (LDB) is a secure browser for taking tests in HuskyCT. LDB prevents you from printing, copying, going to another URL, or accessing other applications during a test. If a test in HuskyCT requires LDB, you will not be able to take the test with a standard web browser.

LockDown Browser should only be used for taking tests in HuskyCT. It should not be used in other areas of HuskyCT.

How do I upload a profile picture to HuskyCT?

How do I change my name in HuskyCT?

HuskyCT reads your preferred name from the NetID system. To change your name in HuskyCT, update your preferred name at netid.uconn.edu. The change will take place at the next user info update, which happens Monday through Friday at 6 AM.

Where can I find the SET survey link?

A link to the SET survey is available on the My Courses tab in HuskyCT. Depending on your view, the module containing this link may appear anywhere on the page. If it is not located in the upper right column, try scrolling to the bottom of the page, checking both the left and right columns.

Where do I go for more help with HuskyCT? 

  • If you are having issues connecting to or logging in to HuskyCT, contact the Technology Support Center.

Kaltura FAQs

Overview

Kaltura is a cloud-based service that enables users to create and share image, video, and audio files within HuskyCT courses. The service converts files into multiple formats for ease of use, and no plugins or special software are needed to view videos.

General Information for Blackboard Collaborate

Overview

Blackboard Collaborate™ is a simple, convenient, and reliable online collaborative learning solution. The tool is tightly integrated with HuskyCT, the University’s learning management system, and its features complement the existing functionality of HuskyCT. Collaborate also has unique in-session tools, such as breakout rooms, an interactive whiteboard, application sharing, polling, and a hand-raising feature, that enhance engagement and the face-to-face feel of online classes.

Barnes & Noble

Overview

Most HuskyCT courses now include a link to purchase course materials from the bookstore.  If your instructor has reserved textbooks or other materials through the bookstore, you can use the Purchase Course Materials link to buy or rent the required texts. Please note that not all instructors use this feature. If the link to purchase materials is not available in your HuskyCT course, please inquire directly with your instructor.
