Viewing the Online FERPA Privacy Waiver

When students log in to the Student Administration System and click the Student Center link, they will be required to complete the FERPA (Family Educational Rights Privacy Act) Privacy Waiver. The waiver provides students the ability to designate up to four persons and assign a distinct four-character access code to each person in order that the designee may discuss specific information with these administrative offices:

  • Registrar

  • Financial Aid and Bursar

  • Residential Life

  • Husky One Card Office

  • Community Standards

  • Global Affairs

Use this procedure to determine whether or not a student has completed the FERPA Privacy Waiver and to view a student's designees and their access code or to see if a student has chosen not to indicate any designees.

  1. Navigate to privacy.uconn.edu

  2. Click the Focus Areas tab dropdown, and then select Student Privacy. Alternatively, click Learn More at the bottom of the Student Privacy box.

  3. Click the Share My Information link.

  4. Click the Staff drop-down, and then click to select FDPP Login (Staff Only)

  5. Enter your NetID and password to access the form.

  6. Enter Name, NetID, or Student Admin ID to search for a UConn student.

  7. Click Search.

  8. If a student created a FERPA designee, search results will display an email address for the student.

    1. If an email address does not display in the search results, the student has not assigned FERPA pin codes to anyone.

  9. Names that display are valid FERPA designees. Unique 4 character Access Codes that display are also valid.

  10. Offices qualified to speak to the designee(s) are listed under Programs. If your office is not listed, you cannot release any information about the student, other than the information that is available within the general directory.
