1 General

Project Description

Dependent Tuition Waiver is a workflow application which allows for eligible employees to request tuition waivers for dependent children.

Background

DTW has been used in production since 2007. It was developed as a kuali workflow application using thin client technology. The KFS project requires an updated kuali rice infrastructure which necessitates a change to the application.

Purpose

This project will update the DTW application so that it can function in the new kuali rice insfrastructure.

Assumptions and Constraints

Assumptions

• Assume original source code is available and matches production.
• Assume kuali rice infrastructure is available.
• Assume functional users are available for testing and verification.

Constraints

• Lack of original requirements document.
• Lack of original specifications document.

Interfaces to External Systems

• Peoplesoft database view for data collection.
• Peoplesoft server for data file exchange.

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

The following are critical components that require modification to the existing application:

• Workflow routing to HR1, HR2, and UCHC groups.
• Notification (prevent lost messages).
• LDAP connectivity (prevent broken workflow documents due to ldap connectivity issues)

The following are new requirements to the application:

• Sort the UCHC applications from the Storrs Based employee applications on the report. 
• Provide attestation checkmark to the employee and provide reporting for it.
  • I certify that this student is my legal dependent, as defined by the IRS, for the tax year in which the benefit is received. I will provide proof of dependency status if requested by the Department of Human Resources or the Bursar's Office.
