DR Overview

An agreement is in place with KualiCo to provide DR service in the cloud.  The agreement calls for the cloud instance to be available to UCONN within 24 hours of the initiation of the DR event. The cloud DR instance is implemented using the latest provided runtime (war) files, configuration files, LDAP and KFS & Rice production data extracts as provided to KualiCo.  The database extracts are provided daily while the LDAP extract is updated weekly and the war and configuration files are updated when changes are deployed to production. 

The application functionality provided by the DR cloud instance is understood to be less than full on-premise implementation at this time.  The limitations of the cloud solution are with regard to interfaces intended for data exchange to/from external applications, all enterprise batch managed processes, and the current B2B real-time integration with Sciquest.  Future plans include eliminating most of the existing limitations as time and resource allows.

The process to implement the cloud instance and the resulting application is tested on a quarterly basis by the UITS Kuali Technical Team, Finance Systems, and the business area Subject matter Experts. in partnership with KualiCo support services. The testing is comprised of initiation of the DR order to KualiCo support, all the way through to successful completion of the operational return to UCONN and validation of the restored environment and data.
