Stamford ITS Lab Software Requirements

Stamford ITS uses Intune to mange our computers in the labs without a fixed administrator account. As a result, all software must have support for silent install to be pushed out over Intune. Additionally, all software must function if accessed by non-administrators. Additionally, since a package must be made, 2 weeks notice prior to the need for software is critical to ensure that software can be installed and issues can be properly communicated.

  • Ticket must be submitted 2 weeks prior to need

    • To ensure research on how to create silent install package

    • Time to communicate

    • Time to involve other departments (if necessary)

    • Testing

    • Time to come up with another solution if it can’t be done

  • Vendor support for silent install

    • Install

    • Uninstall

    • Documented detection method

  • Security

    • Code signed

    • Pass all malware and security checks

    • Does not flag as critically vulnerable

  • Licensed

    • Free software may be requested

    • Licensed software license info must be provided at the time of the request as package creation can not happen without

  • Functionality

    • Must not interfere with other software

    • Must not be responsible for system crashing
