Effective Date (Draft)

Effective date is when a table row becomes effective, or the date that an action begins.

Effective dates in Student Administration provide the ability to define a record as in effect or planned, depending on the system or current date. Effective dates also maintain historical information in the database.

The Action Date is the date the information was input into the system. The Eff Date (Effective Date) is the date the action becomes effective.

Consider today’s date to be 4/1/2023, this student’s status today would be DC - Discontinued. See record in red text. This student is not considered AC - Active until 5/8/2023, the effective date of the record, even though its Action Date is 3/31/2023 which is prior to “today”.

Consider today’s date to be 4/1/2023. The last row in the example below, is known as future-dated. This action, entered on 3/31/2023, will take effect on 5/8/2023.
