Setting up Google Analytics for the first time

To track your site statistics, you must set up Google Analytics.

  1. Create a Google account for your department, school, college, or other functional group.

    • Use a personal Google/Gmail account for a scholar/researcher website.

  2. Navigate to Google Analytics.

  3. Click Sign in to Analytics.

  4. Click Start Measuring.

  5. Under Account Setup, enter an account name. Each Google account can be associated with multiple analytics accounts.

  6. Specify Account Data Sharing, and click Next.

  7. Create a property with a name that describes the site the analytics will be on.

  8. Click Show advanced options (below the property-setup fields).

  9. Choose to create a Google Analytics 4 property.

    1. You can switch back and forth between properties using the property selector.  

    2. Identifying Each Property

      If you named your property "Example" in step 5,

      • Google Analytics 4 property = Example - GA4 98765432

  10. Click Next and provide information about your business. 

  11. Click Create.

  12. Copy the Google Analytics 4 property tracking code.

  13. Log in to your site.

  14. Navigate to Beehive Pro > Google Analytics > Account.

  15. Paste the Google Analytics 4 property tracking code into the Measurement ID. 

  16. You will be able to start viewing real-time analytics within a few hours. More detailed information will be available within 1-2 days.
