This article is for students seeking information on how to access the call waiting, return to the original party, cancel call waiting, three-way calling, call forwarding, speed dialing, distinctive ring, and caller ID features included on their campus telephones.  

This feature provides an audible tone indicating a second incoming call.

To use this feature, briefly depress the switchhook after hearing the call waiting tone.

Your phone may vary. Consult your owner's manual for specific instructions on how to access call waiting from your personal telephone. To use this feature,

  1. Press the switchhook once.
  2. Release * again.

You will be reconnected to the original caller.

This feature shuts off the call waiting tone, and works on a per call basis. To use this feature,

  1. Listen for a dial tone. 
  2. Dial *70
  3. Listen for a second dial tone.
  4. Place your call.

This feature enables you to conference with two other people during one conversation. To use this feature,

  1. Depress the switchhook and listen for a dial tone.
  2. Dial the telephone number of the third person and announce the call when it is answered.
  3. Depress the switchhook to establish your three-way call.
If you would like to use the caller ID feature to work on call waiting you will need to purchase the appropriate caller ID display unit.

This feature sends all calls to another on-campus telephone number.

Activating Call Forwarding

  1. Listen for a dial tone.
  2. Dial *72
  3. Dial the extension you wish to forward your calls to (6-XXXX or 7-XXXX).
  4. Listen for the confirmation tone.
  5. The extension you dialed will ring to announce call forwarding.
  6. Hang up.

Deactivating Call Forwarding

  1. Listen for a dial tone. 
  2. Dial *73.
  3. Listen for the confirmation tone.
  4. Hang up.

This feature programs up to 20 numbers on a 2- digit speed dial lists.

Programming or Changing a Number:

  1. Listen for a dial tone.
  2. Dial *75.
  3. Listen for a dial tone.
  4. Dial the 2-digit speed dial code (use numbers 20 through 39) and the number to be programmed.
  5. Listen for the confirmation tone.
  6. Hang up.

Using 2-Digit Speed Dialing:

  1. Listen for a dial tone.
  2. Dial the 2-digit programmed number.

You will be connected to the contact you assigned to your two-digit dial code. 

This feature distinguishes on-campus calls from off-campus calls.

  • One steady ring indicates a call from on-campus.
  • Two short rings indicate a call from off-campus. 

This feature gives you the ability to view the telephone number for an incoming campus, local, or long distance call.

You must provide your own caller ID display unit.

If you would like to use the caller ID feature to work on call waiting you will need to purchase the appropriate caller ID display unit.
