Duo two-factor authentication (2FA) at UConn is designed to be used anywhere in the world at any time. The simplest way to use 2FA for UConn services when you are outside of the United States is to download and set up the Duo Mobile app for authentication. Duo Mobile works both with or without internet access on your device and is ITS’s recommended second-factor authentication method for all situations. If you already have Duo set up on your mobile device but did not install the app on your phone, follow these steps below.
Download the Duo app

Visit Device Management Portal and

Go to netid.uconn.edu/tools/duo/ and log sign in with your NetID and NetID password.
Click Manage Devices. You’ll need to authenticate with Duo to gain access.
By the phone number associated with your enrolled device, click Device Options.
Click Activate on Manage Devices and enter your UConn email address and then enter your NetID password.
Click on Add a device.
Choose Duo Mobile.
Select the type of phone you have (cannot select Other).

Click on I have a tablet to bypass adding a phone number, as your number may change.
Click Next if you have already installed the Duo Mobile app.
Activate Duo Mobile for your phone. Either scan the on-screen QR code (point the camera on your phone at your screen) or have an activation link emailed to you. Click Continue once you complete either activation option.
The process is complete, and you have successfully activated DuoOpen the Duo Mobile app you installed earlier and click on + Add then click on Use QR code.
Scan the QR code with your phone’s camera.
The new account will be added to Duo as “University of Connecticut”. You may leave this name as it is.
