UCONN-GUEST is a non-encrypted, non-secure wireless service that visitors to UConn who do not have NetID credentials may use to access the internet. It does not require NetID credentials to log in. Instead, users must accept terms and agreementsconditions, which automatically load in the device’s Web browser upon connecting to UCONN-GUEST or browsing to a website. This connection resets every few hours.

As of August 1, 2022, ITS has started blocking FTP, BitTorrent, and SMTP protocols on UCONN-GUEST.

Note

Each time you connect to the Internet while using a hotspot and the UCONN-GUEST network, you need to log in.

You may need to connect your wireless device to UCONN-GUEST. Supported devices include:

  • Most gaming consoles, such as Xbox and PlayStation

  • Apple TV

  • Smart TV’sTVs

  • Roku, Fire TV Stick, Chromecast

  • Wireless Printers

  • Other Internet-of-Things devices (Smart assistants such as Amazon Echo, Google Home, lightbulbs, etc.)

Peer-to-peer communication between WiFi devices is not supported. Therefore, wireless printers, smart assistants such as Amazon Alexa or Google Home, lights, sockets, etc. may not function and are not formally supported.

  1. Click on the network icon located to the top right of the main desktop page.

  2. You will find UCONN-GUEST on the available network list. Select UCONN-GUEST and click Join.

  3. A new screen will appear asking you to agree to the terms of the network. Select Yes, I Agree, and you will automatically be connected to the network.
