Departments may need to give individuals temporary access to University university resources. These individuals are often temporary contractors or visitors that are otherwise not employed or affiliated with the University. By sponsoring an affiliate account for them, they will be assigned a NetID that they can use the same way a full-time employee or student can. This NetID allows them to log in to many services such as UConn's Single Sign-On, ITS Supported Workstations, UCONN-SECURE, etc. Affiliate accounts may be sponsored for up to 12 months from the date of request and may optionally receive University email. ITS encourages departments to obtain NetIDWork accounts for Student Employeesstudent employees. These accounts allow for a student's responsibilities as an employee to remain separate from their duties as a student so any access to University university data can be easily revoked if they leave the position. NetIDWork accounts also receive University email and are given access to Office 365. If you sponsor a NetIDWork account for a student employee, they will receive a new NetID in the format of aaa00000work, where the first 3 letters and 5 numbers match their existing NetID.
