This article is for faculty and staff who wish to host live events on Teams.

A Teams live event is a lightweight alternative to Stream, which requires external hardware or software encoder. In a Teams live event, users can create events and invite presenters/panelists to participate on their own devices.

Producer Capabilities

When producing in teams, producers have the following capabilities:

  • Select video feeds from other presenters and send them to the event
  • Chat with other producers and presenters
  • Start and end the live event

Once you stop the live event, you can't restart it.

  • View the live attendee count

  • Share their screens (desktop or a window) into the event
  • Mute all other producers and presenters
  • Join the audio from a PSTN phone (dial-in or self dial-out)
  • Moderate the Q&A (if configured for the event)
  • Have a Yammer conversation (if configured for the event)
  • Download recording
  • Download attendee report

Producing the Live Event

  1. Select Calendar Meetings button , then the live event, and Join.
    • You will have the options to adjust your camera and microphone before joing the event as a producer
    • You also have the option to join as an attendee if desired
  2. From the bottom of the screen, choose the camera or screen to preview it in the queue (on the left) before sending it to the live event

To appear in the bottom panel of the screen, the camera must be turned on or the screen must be shared by a presenter.

  3. Select Send Live to send the feed from preview to the live event
  4. Select Start to begin broadcasting live

If the screen or camera sharing is stopped, everyone will see Live event will resume in a moment

  5. To end the event, select End

Once you end the event, you can not restart it
