AnyWare is a virtualized desktop environment hosted inside the UConn network. You have several options for how you save and access in this environment.

OneDrive

Users can use OneDrive to save and access files.

OneDrive Sync will automatically start syncing files after launching the desktop. Users can access these files through File Explorer under "OneDrive - University of Connecticut" in the left Explorer menu.

New! The OneDrive Sync Client will work for all users after January 10, 2023. Once implemented, the OneDrive Sync client will create a OneDrive Sync folder that will be accessible in File Explorer in your UConn Anyware session.

Saving to UConn Anyware Desktop

Files can also be saved to specific folders in your UConn Anyware session profile:

  1. Open File Explorer.

  2. File Explorer

Under “This PC,” you will see your Desktop and Documents and may store files in these locations. If your application requires a dedicated files path to access specific files, we recommend saving to these locations.

Desktop and Documents are locations where you may store files.

Please note:

  • Data saved in these locations will be available every time you log into UConn Anyware.

  • Data saved to these locations are only accessible in UConn Anyware. If you need to access to a copy of these files outside of UConn Anyware, then save a copy to another storage location, like OneDrive, that is accessible to you outside of UConn Anyware.

Accessing Files from Q Drive

Use the File Explorer icon in the Task Bar.

Important Note: The personal (P) drive is a legacy service and is in the process of being discontinued. Faculty and staff no longer have access to the P drive. Students still have access to the P drive until January 10, 2023. User data that once resided on the P drive will eventually be migrated to OneDrive.

More Tools

Printing to Wepa printing locations is an option available from all Anyware Desktop sessions whether you are using an iPad, Android, Mac, Window client, or a web browser (Safari or Chrome).
