Checking Mac System Information

To find your Mac's system information, access the About This Mac feature.

  1. Click the Apple logo in the upper left-hand corner of your desktop.

  2. In the drop-down menu, click About This Mac. The following information will then appear:

    • Version number and Name of macOS / OS X installed on your computer.

    • Model of your computer.

    • General date when the model was released.

    • Processor type.

    • Memory amount.

    • Graphics card information.

    • Serial Number.

  3. Press Software Update to access software updates. 

  4. Click the Display tab to access the basic information regarding your display (ex. screen size; graphics card resolution, etc.).

  5. Select Display Preferences to the change basic settings of your display.

  6. Click the Storage tab to access basic information regarding your hard drive and any external media connected to your computer (ex. capacity, partitions, amount of free space, etc.).

  7. Click on the Memory tab to view how much RAM your Mac has available.

  8. Click on the Support tab to access links to various support pages offered by Apple.

  9. Select the Service tab to access information about your warranty.
