Subject: Bitbucket & Bamboo Cloud evaluation

Greetings Bitbucket and Bamboo stakeholders,

ITS is planning to evaluate Bitbucket’s Cloud version to align with our other Atlassian products, Jira and Confluence, in the cloud. Bitbucket Cloud Premium is integrated with their CI/CD tool Bitbucket Pipelines, as Bamboo is not available in the Cloud.

Atlassian offers a 90-day free trial, which provides Bitbucket and Bamboo stakeholders the opportunity to perform testing.  We would like to begin this trail as soon as possible.
Your participation in testing is important. Please let us know if you are not able to perform testing within the next 90 days.  We will do our best to accommodate your schedules.

Provided use cases are successful, we will proceed with the migration to Bitbucket Cloud Premium, along with Bitbucket Pipelines in the Cloud, which will replace Bitbucket Data Center and Bamboo on premise.

ITS will leverage a ‘Bitbucket Cloud Migration Assistant’ to migrate projects and repositories (under 10gb), all pull request diffs and metadata and users.
Atlassian does not offer a migration tool for Bamboo. We will coordinate with Bamboo users on the specifics of the migration.

A Bitbucket Cloud migration Q&A is available here.

For your reference, this article provides more detailed information on the differences between Bamboo and Bitbucket Pipelines.

Note there are a few Bitbucket Data Center plugin’s that are not supported in the Cloud.  We can discuss possible alternatives or workarounds.

Bitbucket Installed Plug-In's:

Possible Alternative

Webhook to Jenkins for Bitbucket

Software Development Optimization - unsupported

Jira Hooks for Bitbucket

A replacement is not necessary, as Bitbucket Cloud includes native Jira integration.

Commit Graph for Bitbucket Data Center

Awesome Graphs for Bitbucket - Supported

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
