Cutover Date - SharePoint Migrations
When planning the migration of your Q Drive data into SharePoint, ITS will ask you for your desired “cutover” date.
What is this cutover?
The day of the cutover is the day that you will:
No longer have access to the Q Drive folders that are being migrated and
Only have access to your data through SharePoint
What should I expect?
ITS will ask you for your desired migration date. This will be your cutover date.
The workday before the cutover day, you will lose access to the Q Drive folders that are being migrated at 2pm.
The day of the cutover, your data will be ready in SharePoint by 8am.
Once your cutover occurs, you will need to synchronize your SharePoint site(s) with your computer in order to access your data.
The initial synchronization may take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours depending on the number of files in your SharePoint site.
After your initial synchronization, SharePoint will synchronize your changes with the cloud as you make them.
The “cutover" date is the workday before your migration takes place. If you wish to be working out of SharePoint on a Monday, you will lose access to your Q Drive at 2pm on the previous Friday.
How do I prepare for the cutover?
Let ITS know when you would like to cutover! This a date chosen by the owners of the Q Drive data.
Remember that you will lose access to the Q Drive folders that are being migrated at 2pm the day before, so be sure to close any files that you are working on before this time.
If you have a file open after 2pm, you will not be able to save your edits.
