Use your UConn LastPass account to store and autofill your login credentials when you sign in to different websites and online accounts. Within your LastPass vault, you can also securely store your notes, documents, photos, videos, audio files, addresses, payment cards, and bank accounts.

Passwords in your LastPass Vault

Once you add passwords to your LastPass vault, you can launch your login directly from your vault or go to the website manually and let LastPass autofill your credentials for you.

There are two ways to enter your passwords into your LastPass vault. You can manually enter each of your passwords individually or you can enter many of your passwords at once by importing them.

You can import your passwords from your web browser, personal files, spreadsheets or another password manager. To import, enter your vault and click Import many passwords at once to LastPass, choose your source, and follow the prompts to continue importing your passwords to your LastPass vault. This option is only available during the initial set up of your LastPass vault.

You can enter your passwords individually from within your LastPass vault or from your web browser.

Tip: Use Folders to keep your passwords and information organized. When entering your password or other data to your vault, you can add it to a new or existing folder.

How to enter your passwords individually from within your LastPass vault

  1. Enter your vault and click Passwords from the sidebar menu.

  2. Click the Add Item icon in the bottom right corner of your vault.

  3. Copy and paste the URL to the site login page you wish to enter.

  4. Enter a password Name so that you can easily identify your saved password within your vault.

    1. Optional: Add your password to a new or existing Folder to keep your passwords organized.

  5. Enter the Username and Site password that you normally use to log in to the site that you are entering. Depending on the site, this may be different from your LastPass login credentials.

  6. Click Save.

Here’s an example using the URL to the Husky CT Single Sign on Page and your Husky CT login credentials:

Your login credentials have been saved in LastPass and will be automatically applied when you log in to the site from now on.

Optional: Add a time-based One-time passcode that you can share with others who access this site with the same credentials as you. Where two-factor authentication is required, the one-time passcode can be used. How to enter your passwords individually from your web browser

  1. Visit the login page to the website you wish to enter.

  2. Click the LastPass icon in your web browser tool bar.

  3. Click Add Item from the drop down menu.

  4. Click Password and your LastPass vault will automatically open.

  5. Confirm or change the password Name so that you can easily identify your saved password within your vault.

    1. Optional: Add your password to a new or existing Folder to keep your passwords organized.

  6. Enter the Username and Site password that you normally use to log in to the site that you are entering. Depending on the site, this may be different from your LastPass login credentials.

  7. Click Save.

Your login credentials have been saved in LastPass and will be automatically applied when you log in to the site from now on.

How to log in to a website via your password vault

  1. Enter your vault and click Passwords from the sidebar menu.

  2. Hover over the name or icon of the site you wish to access.

  3. Click Launch and the site’s log in page will automatically open.

A LastPass prompt to fill in your login credentials will pop up and you can successfully log in.

What if LastPass doesn’t autofill my login credentials?

  1. Visit the site login page you wish to enter.

  2. Click the LastPass icon in your web browser tool bar. It may signal that LastPass is ready to fill in your login credentials for you.

  3. Click directly on the name or icon of the site as it appears in the drop-down menu OR hover over it and click the Fill icon.

LastPass will autofill your credentials for you and you can successfully log in.

Notes, Documents, and Files in your LastPass Vault

To securely store important or sensitive information and materials other than passwords in your LastPass vault, add a Note to your vault. Organize your notes using Folders and store them with their related passwords and information.

You can manually enter notes directly into your vault, paste notes from your clipboard, or add attachments. You can add attachments like documents, photos, videos, presentations, audio files, or spreadsheets to your vault so that you can maintain access to them if they’re ever lost or misplaced.

There are two ways to add a note to your LastPass vault. You can add a note from within your LastPass vault or from your web browser.

How to add a note from within your LastPass vault

  1. Enter your LastPass vault and click Notes from the sidebar menu.

  2. Click the Add Item icon in the bottom right corner of your vault.

  3. Enter a note Name so that you can easily identify your saved note within your vault.

    1. Optional: Add your note to a new or existing Folder to keep your passwords organized.

  4. Enter your note:

  • If you are entering a note that is text only, manually enter your text or paste text from your clipboard into the textbox provided.

  • If you are entering a note that is an attachment, click Add Attachment and select the attachment file that you wish to enter into your vault from the pop up window.

Your note has been securely saved to your vault, and you can access it via your LastPass vault or web browser.

How to add a note from your web browser

  1. Click the LastPass icon in your web browser tool bar.

  2. Click Add Item from the drop down menu.

  3. Click Secure Note and your LastPass vault will automatically open.

  4. Enter a note Name so that you can easily identify your saved note within your vault.

    1. Optional: Add your note to a new or existing Folder to keep your passwords organized.

  5. Enter your note:

  • If you are entering a note that is text only, manually enter your text or paste text from your clipboard into the textbox provided.

  • If you are entering a note that is an attachment, click Add Attachment and select the attachment file that you wish to enter into your vault from the pop up window.

Your note has been securely saved to your vault, and you can access it via your LastPass vault or web browser.

How to access your notes via your LastPass vault

  1. Click Notes from the sidebar menu in your vault.

  2. Hover over the name and icon of the note you wish to access.

  3. Click Edit. Your note will open automatically.

How to access your notes via your web browser

  1. Click the LastPass icon in your web browser tool bar.

  2. Click All Items from the drop down menu.

  3. Click Notes from the following drop down menu.

  4. Choose the Folder where the note you wish to access is stored.

5. Click on the note you wish to access and it will automatically open from your LastPass vault.

Moving, Deleting, and Recovering Items in your LastPass Vault

How to move items into an existing folder or shared folder

  1. Enter your LastPass vault and find the item you wish to move.

  2. Right click on the item OR check the box in its upper right-hand corner and click on the Actions drop down menu that appears at the top of your vault.

  3. Click Move to Folder and click on the folder you wish to add the item to.

  4. Click Yes to confirm.

The item has been moved to the folder selected.

How to delete items and folders from your vault

  1. Enter your LastPass vault and find the item or folder you wish to delete.

  2. Hover over the name or icon of the item and click the waste icon in the bottom right hand corner.

  3. When prompted, click Yes to confirm deletion of the item.

The item or folder has been deleted and can be permanently deleted or recovered from the deleted items folder of your vault.

How to recover deleted items and folders

  1. Enter your LastPass vault and click Advanced Options from the sidebar menu.

  2. Click View Deleted Items and find the item or folder you wish to recover.

  3. Hover over the name or icon of the item and check the box in its upper right-hand corner to select the item.

  4. Click on the Actions drop down menu that appears at the top of your vault and click Restore.

  5. When prompted, click Yes to restore the item.

The item or folder you selected has been restored and will now appear in your LastPass vault.

How to permanently delete an item or folder

  1. Enter your LastPass vault and click Advanced Options from the sidebar menu.

  2. Click View Deleted Items and find the deleted item you wish to permanently delete.

  3. Hover over the name or icon of the deleted item you wish to permanently delete and click the waste icon on the lefthand side of the item.

  4. When prompted, click Yes to confirm.

The item has now been permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
