This article explains how instructors can access student attempts on assessments in the Ultra Course View.

For detailed information on grading attempts, please see: Grading and Feedback in Ultra Course View.

Overview:

  • In Ultra, instructors and TAs can access assessment attempts through the Gradebook or within Course Content via the Assessment link.

  • The Gradebook Overview and Gradable Items tabs, display attempts that Need Grading.

  • There are different methods to locate, filter, and sort attempts for grading.


Accessing Attempts from Gradebook

 Gradebook Overview

The Gradebook Overview displays assessments that Need Grading or Need posting.

  1. To navigate to the Gradebook Overview, first click Gradebook.

  2. Then click the Overview tab.

  3. From Overview, you can see a list of assessment items that require grading. To start grading, click Grade now for any assignment. This will bring you to the grading page.

  4. From the grading page you are able to grade and view all students' submissions. Here, you can adjust the student’s grade, give them feedback, delete their attempt, and toggle between other student’s attempts.

 Accessing Attempts from Gradable Items

Student attempts can be accessed through Gradable items. The advantage of Gradable items is you that you are able to see more grading information (i.e., missing, graded, posted) and access assignments all in one place.

To begin, navigate to the Gradebook.

Click on Gradable items.

You will now see the gradable items page that provides information about the assignment/assessments.

By clicking on any assignment, you will be able to access the Submissions page.

If you click on a student’s name, a sidebar will open. To view the student’s attempt, select Attempt #

Here, you can adjust the student’s grade, give them feedback, delete their attempt, and toggle between other student’s attempts.


Sorting Student Attempts

While on the grading page for student attempts, attempts can be sorted in various ways such as latest submission, oldest submission, or alphabetically.

To sort student submissions, first navigate to the student attempts page. Then click on the list icon.

Then select the way you would like to sort the student submissions.

The list of student submissions will update accordingly and instructors will be able to use the Next Student and Previous Student buttons accordingly.
