2FA helps protect private online information by requiring two forms of identification (one that you have, and one that you know) before access is granted. When visiting a protected site, login is done first with NetID credentials. Following NetID login, a prompt will be received from Duo Security to authenticate with a second physical device linked to the NetID account. This protects a user’s login to private accounts even if an unauthorized person has obtained their NetID and password.
